Social Impact

Using fique allows me to support local artisans and preserve traditional craftsmanship. Skilled hands, often passed down through generations, transform the raw fique fibers into intricately woven patterns that tell stories of Colombian heritage. By collaborating with these talented artisans, I not only contribute to the preservation of their craft but also empower them economically, fostering a sustainable cycle of growth and cultural exchange.

In my journey as a bag designer, I have discovered a material that not only aligns with my commitment to sustainability but also carries a profound connection to my own cultural roots. That material is fique, derived from the leaves of the fique plant that thrives in the breathtaking landscapes of Colombia, my homeland.

Choosing fique was a conscious decision fueled by a deep desire to honor and celebrate Colombian and Latin-American culture
Fique and Sustainability

Beyond its cultural significance, fique stands out as an exceptional choice from an environmental standpoint. The fique plant is resilient, requiring minimal water and pesticides to flourish. Its cultivation supports local communities, providing sustainable livelihoods and preserving traditional farming practices.

Versatility and durability

The fibers extracted from the fique leaves possess strength and resilience, making them ideal for creating sturdy and long-lasting bags. By utilizing fique, I am able to offer my customers not only aesthetically pleasing designs but also products that withstand the test of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimizing waste.
